Pushing Clinical Boundaries: Complex Case Studies from the International Implantology Program

Precision is the hallmark of the International Implantology Program at Saveetha. In our recent advanced session, we didn't just talk about "what is possible"—we executed it.

Our participants engaged with some of the most challenging scenarios in modern implantology, including:

SIMSYM 2025, the 5th edition of the National Implant Symposium organized by the Department of Implantology, Saveetha Dental College, was a grand success, bringing together over 400 participants from across the country. The three-day event featured 13 intensive preconference courses, international speakers, scientific poster presentations, interactive lecture sessions, and trade exhibits, creating a dynamic platform for clinical learning and collaboration. With ₹5 lakh worth of prizes awarded for outstanding scientific and clinical contributions, SIMSYM 2025 stood out as one of the most engaging implant conferences in the country. Celebrating over 20,000 implants placed by the department, the event reaffirmed Saveetha’s leadership in implant education, research, and innovation—continuing the SIMSYM legacy of excellence and inspiration in the field of dental implantology.

The halls of Saveetha Dental College were recently filled with a unique energy as clinicians from across the globe completed our latest training cycle. We are proud to announce the successful graduation of our newest cohort from the International Implantology Program.

An accomplished Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with an impressive academic portfolio—MDS (Mumbai), DMD (Germany), FDSRCS (Edinburgh), MD & PhD (Germany)—Dr. Kumar brought his wealth of expertise to the discussion.

The session was highly interactive, sparking engaging conversations among participants, and was enriched by the presentation of the latest clinical evidence and ITI consensus guidelines. Attendees gained valuable insights into managing complex implant scenarios, from anatomical challenges to restorative considerations, ensuring long-term success for patients.

The First-Ever Digital Dentistry Marathon, hosted by Osstem Implants at Saveetha Dental College, was a groundbreaking event that brought together renowned experts to explore advancements in digital dentistry. Prof. Marco Tallarico delivered an inspiring lecture on "Revolutionizing Digital Dentistry: From Single to Complete Arch Restoration," highlighting the transformative potential of digital workflows in comprehensive restorations. Dr. Meyyappan's session, "Witness the Future of Digital Dentistry Accompanied by National Digital Leader," showcased the integration of cutting-edge digital tools in everyday practice. Dr. Hiba Abdelaziz provided valuable insights on "Understanding Intraoral Scanners and Applications," emphasizing their versatility and impact on precision and patient care. The conference fostered meaningful discussions and inspired attendees to embrace innovation, solidifying Saveetha Dental College's position as a leader in advancing oral healthcare through technology.

SIMSYM 2024, hosted by the Department of Prosthodontics and Implantology at Saveetha Dental College, was a resounding success, attracting around 300 participants from across India. The event maintained its traditional legacy, marking the fourth consecutive year since its inception in 2022.

This year, the conference featured seven distinguished international speakers who delivered insightful keynote lectures, sharing their expertise and innovations in the field. In addition to the informative sessions, 120 attendees participated in pre-conference courses, enhancing their skills and knowledge.

The conference also included trade stalls showcasing the latest products and technologies, providing participants with opportunities for networking and collaboration. Overall, SIMSYM 2024 not only celebrated advancements in prosthodontics but also fostered a vibrant community dedicated to the growth and development of dental professionals in India.

The recent ITI Institutional Study Club featured expert Dr. Rahul Shah as the keynote speaker. With extensive experience in Dynamic navigation, Dr. Rahul has successfully executed complex procedures, including chairside Zygomatic implant placement – a testament to his mastery of the technology. He has placed over 700 implants utilizing this innovative technique.

Dr. Rahul commenced his lecture with a comprehensive overview of Dynamic navigation, clarifying its technical intricacies for both students and practicing clinicians. Subsequently, he delved into detailed protocols for managing full arches using this advanced system. The session further enriched participants with in-depth case studies that highlighted the success rates and precision of implant placement.

The evening concluded with a live surgical demonstration of Mastoid implant placement on a patient, a ground-breaking application of Dynamic navigation for ear prosthesis support. Overall, the study club provided attendees with a comprehensive understanding and hands-on experience of the latest advancements in Dynamic navigation.

The Lecture was a comprehensive look on the influence of digital technologies in obtaining more aesthetic outcomes using digital technologies, the speaker also covered details relating to smile design and dental implant guided surgery and the innovative "DACO PROTOCOL" in management of full mouth rehabilitation cases using digital records
